Imagination 2024 – H. Nigel Thomas
Come meet author H. Nigel Thomas!
H. Nigel Thomas (he/him) immigrated to Canada from St Vincent and the Grenadines in 1968. He taught English and French at the Protestant School Board of Greater Montreal and was later a professor of United States literature at l’Université Laval. He is the author of thirteen books that include essays, novels, short fiction, and poetry. His books Lives: Whole and Otherwise and Behind the Face of Winter, have been translated into French as Des vies cassées and De glace et d’ombre, respectively. His first novel, Spirits in the Dark (1993), was republished in 2023 by Véhicule Press; and two novels, A Different Hurricane and And then again Begin, will be published in 2025 and 2026 by Dundurn and Guernica, respectively. He is the recipient of many awards, the most recent being the 2022 Canada Council for the Arts John Molson Prize for the Arts.
He will talk about the 30th anniversary edition of his book Spirits in the Dark with host Michèle Thibeau.
