Our Guests
Keynote Speaker
After completing high school in his hometown, Peter D. Simons studied pure science at Carleton University. He went on to study economics at the University of Western Ontario where he would later be admitted to the Richard Ivey School of Business HBA program. In 1986 he began his career in the retail fashion business his family had run in Quebec City since 1840.
A real company man, Peter took over the family business with his brother Richard in 1996 after working his way up the corporate ladder. As new president, he would usher the firm into a bright and modern future. Today, he acts as Chief merchant and is in charge of supervising the team of buyers, while keeping an eye on all expansion and construction projects, day-to-day operations and special projects. His mission is to perpetuate a strong family culture while meeting today’s challenges and remaining mindful of both the environment and technology. He believes that no organization can afford to stand still but must work every day to secure the future while remaining faithful and connected to its clientele.
Peter is a man of action and unbridled interests who lives life with a capital L. His positive energy and inquiring mind serve him well in meeting the ever-changing needs and interests of shoppers. He believes the company must take things one step at a time, building recognition and skills along the way. His main motivations are strength of character, hard work, tangible results, and clear goals and strategies. He puts his trust in talent and forward thinking to do more and do better. He has a flair for finding and surrounding himself with talented people and for valuing the work they do. He firmly believes that the past and present hold the keys to the future, and that success is a measure of the effort you put into achieving it.
