M.G. Vassanji is the author of ten novels, three collections of short stories, and four works of nonfiction, including a biography of Mordecai Richler. He is a winner of the Giller Prize for fiction (twice) and the Governor General’s Prize for nonfiction, for his travel memoir about India, and he has been short-listed for several other awards. He was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and raised in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, before attending university in the United States.
