Imagination 2024 – Joan Thomas
Come meet author Joan Thomas!
Joan Thomas’s (she/her) five novels are intimate depictions of characters in times of rapid social change. Wild Hope (2023) is a contemporary love story, mystery, and social criticism. Five Wives (2019), which won the 2019 Governor General’s Award for Fiction, is an immersive dive into the ill-fated attempt by American missionaries to move into the territory of the reclusive Waorani people in Ecuador. Her other novels, The Opening Sky (2014), Curiosity (2010), and Reading by Lightning (2008), were nominated for and won a number of prizes. Joan lives in Winnipeg. In 2014, she was awarded the Writers Trust of Canada Engel Findley Prize for mid-career achievement.
She will talk about her book Wild Hope with host Sylvie De Serres.
