Stories of Our Community: An Interview and Storytelling with Deb Vanslet
Join us for this true-life storytelling afternoon event featuring storyteller, writer and media artist Deb Vanslet!
At this event, you will gain an insight to what inspires an experienced author to craft true-life stories and you will learn more about storytelling activities and resources. There will also be an OPEN MIC for anyone interested in sharing their experiences.
Guest Speaker & Performer
Deb Vanslet is a storyteller, writer and media artist. Her independent videos, including Sick World, Weather Permitting, and Rules of the Road, explore storytelling, performance, and dance. For sixteen years Deb produced and hosted Dykes on Mykes, at CKUT 90.3 FM.
Deb is a producer, as well as a storyteller, at Confabulation, Montreal’s monthly live storytelling show. She also produces and hosts the Confabulation podcast. She is the production coordinator at Ada-X, a feminist artist-run centre.
In 2015, she won the 3Macs carte blanche QWF prize for her short story Self-Serve, and Ghost Station was published in the Queer Perspectives edition of The Malahat Review. Deb is a winner of the 2023 QWF Ian Ferrier Spoken Word prize.
