From December 13, 2020, to March 17, 2021, the Morrin Centre presented the Sharing-Learning-Creating/Partager-Apprendre-Créer project. This bilingual project aimed to promote Quebec culture and build bridges between the anglophone and francophone communities of Quebec. To this end, a series of activities were put together to offer a variety of bilingual presentations and workshops.

 

December 13: Painting with Dominique Normand

In this workshop, painter Dominique Normand discussed her art, her experience, and her sources of inspiration. Participants had the opportunity to try their hand at a few painting techniques!

January 16: Special Storytime with Caroline Adderson

In this special Storytime, author Caroline Adderson read her bilingual book Avalanche! live on Zoom. The reading was followed by a coloring activity based on images from the book.

January 29: Quebec and Celtic Music with Daniel Fréchette and Dominic Haerinck.

In this workshop, musicians Daniel Fréchette and Dominic Haerinck presented a Quebec and Celtic music concert. Following the concert, participants had the opportunity to chat with the artists about the cultural influences on Quebec traditional music.

February 12: Podorythmie with Benoît Fortier.

In this workshop, artist Benoît Fortier taught a podorythmie (“foot rhythm”) class, followed by a discussion of podorythmie around the world.

This workshop was held in partnership with the Center for the Promotion of Living Heritage Ès TRAD and Groupe Satir Productions.

 

March 16: Quebecois Food with Catherine Ferland

Historian Catherine Ferland talked about the culinary heritage of Quebec and Ireland, about the Quebec anglophone community, and about the culinary cultural exchanges between various cultural communities of Quebec.
